Zackary Smith Sentenced to 45 Years; Murder, Firearm –

Edgar County, IL. (ECWd) –

Zackary Smith was convicted of the June 8, 2021, first degree murder with the use of a firearm in the murder of Mathew M. Morgan of Paris, Illinois.

According to Judicic.com, on December 30, 2021, Smith was sentenced to the following:

• Hearing on Motion for New Trial held. Motion is denied.
• Deft is sentenced to minimum 20 years plus additional 25 years for use of firearm for a total of 45 years DOC to be served at
  100 percent,
• credit for 206 days previously served (6/8/21-12/30/21),
• plus 3 yrs MSR.

He has appealed his conviction.
