Jeff Wood won’t participate in Meet the Candidate Night?

EDGAR CO. (ECWd) –

According the the Prairie Press, Jeff Wood, Democrat candidate for Edgar County Sheriff, has declined to participate in the upcoming Meet-the-Candidate night sponsored by the Prairie Press on October 16th.

His reported excuse was that “sheriff department policy handicaps him in a format where candidates answer questions posed by a moderator. “I can’t talk about the sheriff or the jail,” Wood said, claiming any answer he provides that is construed as critical of the sheriff or department operations could be regarded as a violation of department policy.”

Why did he not use the same excuse during the primary? Did he “violate department policy” then? Is he asking people to elect someone that violates the policy of the office they are seeking (referring to the primary meet-the-candidate in March) – or just using that as an excuse?

I believe this is simply an excuse to get out of answering questions from the public.

Mr. Wood, there is still time left for you to opt in – please do so. Nobody is buying this miserable excuse (except maybe Mike Heltsley).

I have to apoligize regarding the election signs in the yard. From what I could find online, there is no longer a requirement for signs to be removed from individuals homes as long as they don’t mind…..so I apoligize for not realizing the law had been changed.

If they weren’t suppposed to be out then the county could have removed it, or you could have stoped at the house and told us it had to be removed. I’m sure that the place it has been for the last four months isn’t noticed that much, after all people don’t seem to care how much trash they throw in our front yard as they drive down the road, is that noticed by you or are you the one throwing your trash out?

I would have a question for Mr. Wood. I’d like to know why it was ok for him to leave his election signs out ALL SUMMER LONG in at least 2 places that I saw almost on a daily basis. Isn’t there a time frame when their signs are allowed to be out? If he can’t follow a simple rule/law like that, I am concerned about what other laws/rules he would feel it was alright not to follow. The signs that were out ALL SUMMER LONG were not in out of the way places that were simply forgotten. Two of the signs were on a main highway and were removed and put back after each time the homeowner mowed.

THERE IS NO TIME FRAME ON THE SIGNS.IF THE PERSON REMOVING THE SIGNS TO MOW DIDNT SEEM TO MIND, THEN WHY SHOULD U CARE.
