DANVILLE, IL. (ECWd) –
We have heard Vermilion County Board Chairman Weinard state several times during public meetings that a majority of the residents of the Vermilion County Invenergy Wind Farm support the project because they signed up.
We decided to check it out with some outside help, and here is the truth behind the “majority support”:
Below are the actual numbers related to those that signed up, and it clearly shows the ABSENTEE landowners are the supporters…..not the ones who live there.
Of the 249 land owners who signed up,
41 live within the farm (Only 16% of people who signed live within the project.)
6 people are ones that have maybe five acres or so that they signed up like Byers, Claude and others.
I think 4 are ones they needed to get the power lines into Newtown not really in the farm.

The names are listed starting on page 83 of this public record obtained from the Vermilion County website (here).
Food for thought for the next time you are told that the majority of residence signed up…

UPDATE:
From a Vermilion County resident:
Before we met I rode with Roy to every tower site and with his knowledge we counted and estimated there were 102 family homes that did not sign that lived within the footprint of the complex. Based on the testimony from the Potomac meeting where not one person that was not being paid (directly or indirectly from the wind industry) supported the turbines, I would estimate that all 102 families are NOT in support of the Cal Ridge complex.
During the Potomac meeting the speakers were 2 to 1 against the turbines.
A brief survey last Saturday in the Apex complex produced not one person in support of the new complex.
Clearly there is NOT a majority of Vermilion county residents in support wind turbines close to family homes.
Our dear county chairman is delusional.

Posted at 08:02h, 04 AugustMaybe the county chairman has been sweet talked by the wind sales guys. It’s amazing how many county board members have no clue what an industrial wind project is — or maybe they don’t care — they believe the hype the wind guys tells them — never investigating for themselves.

Posted at 15:56h, 31 JulyAh…once again a proven liar is exposed. But there is no consequence for Mr. Weinard or any other official who lies to the public.
Mr. “liar” Weinard, you are a pitiful example of what makes Illinois so unpalatable to anyone with common sense. Apparently there isn’t much of it in the electorate of Vermilion county since you keep getting reelected. What a loser.
