“If They Want To Quit, Let Them Quit” – Or – “If They Walk Out, They Are Fired” –

Edgar County, Ill. (ECWd) –

We attended the Edgar County Emergency Telephone System (“911”) Board meeting this afternoon, where there was some discussion on how the 911 dispatchers reacted/acted during the April 3, 2026, alleged shooting incident at White Oak Park in Paris, Illinois.

In relation to the dispatchers threatening to “walk out” – that discussion revolved around the county and city of Paris attempting a central 911 dispatch. One board member stated “if they walk out, don’t let the door hit you in the butt” – an employee of the Sheriff’s Department stated any walkout would terminate their employment according to the union contract.

In relation to the incident on April 3rd, there are investigations underway, and interrogations being conducted with dispatchers either this Thursday or the following Tuesday to determine what happened and how the two 911 calls were handled.

We are unsure of what is on the 911 calls but will publish them once released to the public by the ETSB/Sheriff.

Also related to this incident, two brothers, Jesse and Jordan Kullman, are in custody and held without bail for Hate Crimes and Attempted Murder, among other charges. A third person will appear in Edgar County Court on Monday.

Watch the meeting video.

  1. Since the sheriff has been informed about his failures as it pertains to the dispatchers and nothing has changed, then I think recruiting somebody to run against him for sheriff is the only real solution accompanied with a PSA informing the public

  2. It’s unfortunate that the dispatchers do not fall under the purview of the board. Even so I’m wondering how it got to this point when I get the impression that you’ve told the sheriff needs to change in the past and nothing has happened. Sheriff is usually an elected position so perhaps you need to recruit somebody to run against him. A company that was a PSA about what’s going on and maybe you can get him out of office.
