Pecatonica Township (ECWd) –
At the November meeting of the Pecatonica Township Board of Trustees, one of the issues I presented the Board was the illegal use of public property of the Township Road District.
Prior to the meeting, I drove by the Road District building and snapped a few photos (below) of what I observed.
It appears that Diedrich Concrete had been allowed to use Township Road District property to store its vehicles, equipment, and materials, which are used in their normal course of for-profit business.
We understand this has been going on for years, and it wasn’t until I brought it up during a meeting that the Road Commissioner assured me it would stop – which is all we generally ask for; stop breaking the law especially when it is pointed out to you.

The Constitution of the State of Illinois, in Article VIII, Section 1, declares that “Public funds, property or credit shall be used only for public purposes.” There was no public purpose in permitting a private company to use township property.
The “After” photo from last week after it was cleaned up:
We encourage residents to keep a watchful eye, and send us photos if non-township equipment shows up again to this property.
