Bloomington, feature, McLean County, Normal

Beth Whisman resigned as Commissioner of Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority -

BY JOHN KRAFT & KIRK ALLEN

ON April 18, 2018

NORMAL, IL. (ECWd) -

Three days after we wrote about Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority Commissioner Beth Whisman's disqualification from that office, she chose to resign (see original article here).

According to an article posted to WJBC's website (here), the Airport Authority's attorney gave a legal opinion that she should resign. Additionally, Normal's Mayor Chris Koos claimed the city's attorney didn't see any conflict involved with her new employment with the city, and her position as Airport Authority Commissioner.

We suggest Normal find a new attorney.

I thought Normal Mayor Koos was on medical leave? How could he make this claim?

City Attorney Brian Day is exactly what Normal city government wants and needs to pull off the crap they pull. Spin the truth to get legal statutes to say what you want and need them to say after you get caught or someone challenges your position. He came from the Illinois Municipal League before coming to Normal. Enough said.
