Kansas Fire Protection District keeps their promise - Eliminates Emergency Rescue Tax Levy

BY JOHN KRAFT & KIRK ALLEN

ON October 5, 2017

KANSAS, IL. (ECWd) -

Tax Relief is coming to Kansas Township property owners!

As promised to the voters in the Kansas Fire Protection District, the KFPD has eliminated its Emergency Rescue Tax Levy at tonight's meeting.  They assured the voters who voted in favor of the tax referendum that once the equipment was purchased and a training fund established they would eliminate the tax.

The KFPD board will not be turning in any levy for the Emergency Rescue fund which will ensure approximately $9,000.00 stays in the hands of property owners located in the KFP District, which is the Kansas Township.

When was the last time you heard of your local government eliminating a tax, let alone keeping their promise to do so when the voters passed it?  Now if only other units of local governments would do the same...

Nice to see a taxing body keep their word and eliminate a “temporary” tax levy.
