Charles Michael Heltsley says: “The county board is not stealing from you” –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On January 30, 2016

PARIS, IL. (ECWd) –

In another of our short dispatches in response to Edgar County Board Member Charles Michael Heltsley’s childish rant (read it here) in the self-proclaimed “news” paper, we give you another gem to think about:

The county board is not stealing from you…”

“We are just ordinary individuals who want to do what’s right and fair for the taxpayers…”

It’s no wonder he got fired from D.O.C., he doesn’t even know what “stealing” or “right and fair” is.

Think about this. If you worked for a company that said your total compensation was $1200 per year and $25 per meeting, how much do you think they would pay you each month if you attended 2 meetings per month?

  • $100 ?
  • $150 ?
  • $150 plus $460 for health insurance ?

I think everyone other than Edgar County Board Members would say the answer is $150.

This is what we have in Edgar County – the board members are stealing from you.

We have covered it before, so here it is again…

As we have written in previous articles, the county board must set the rate of their compensation prior to an election and it cannot change until a new resolution setting a new compensation rate is approved by the board, and then it only takes affect after the election following the new resolution.

Is it “stealing” to increase your compensation by up to 400% without legal authorization?

Is it “right and fair” to the taxpayers to tell them how much you are being compensated, and them increase it by up to 400% behind their backs without legal authority?

Is it “right and fair” to the taxpayers to keep kicking the can down the road for three years by lying to the people asking about it by telling them you are going to take care of it?

Heltsley and the Good Ole Boys seem to think it is the proper thing to do. Nobody will notice…because…that’s the way they have always done it”. He’s proud of it. Proud of stealing your money and laughing about it.

Read our previous articles on this subject. The authorizing resolutions are provided and the receipts for payments in excess of that resolution are provided. Read it for yourself and form your own opinion. By the way, their latest excuse is that since they have been stealing it so long, they should be allowed to keep stealing it.

Yeah, it’s one of those things that someone has to stop since clearly those involved will continue their actions until someone makes them stop.
