College of DuPage – Oh No! 4:3 vote

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

DuPage Co. (ECWd)
The Higher Learning Commission raised issues regarding the voting outcomes of the Board of Trustees that I covered in this article.
They were concerned that 4:3 votes by the board somehow was a problem.  If they are truly concerned about that type of vote outcome, and the impact it has on education, maybe they should look no further than the three stooges, Birt, McGuire, and Wozniak.
During the organizational meeting the very three board members that are responsible for all negative publicity that has happen to COD in the last several years voted NO while all the other intellectually honest board members voted yes, thus a 4:3 vote.  What were they voting on?

Roberts Rules of Order!

Yes, these three voted against Roberts Rules of Order.

If the Higher Learning Commission wants to make a thorough evaluation of these trustees and what is going on as it relates to the board, maybe the fact those three wanted nothing to do with the most basic rules for operating public bodies in this country should be considered.  Such an act tells the students they have no regard for the rule of order.

The video of the HLC meeting is worth watching and speaks for itself.

Erin Birt said she was happy when the vote was 6 to 1 LOL – of course she was, that was when she was on the majority. The voters of the District voted a mandate.

MvGuire was complaining that you folks weren’t there for the HLC meeting, I guess she misses you. I hope you won’t disappoint her on the 30th…

I think she said “noticeably absent” kind of like she was trying to make people think we planned it ahead of time. We were actually in Decatur giving a class to other people on how to do what we do. That class had been scheduled since last winter.
Don’t worry, she won’t have the chance to miss us again.
