During the May 11, 2015 Edgar County Airport Advisory Board meeting I talked about the “Edgar County Airport Booster Club” and the pancake and sausage breakfast they are planning on conducting in June.
My comments were that the “Booster Club” is not registered with the Secretary of State to do business in the State of Illinois, and is not registered with the Illinois Attorney General’s Charitable Trust Bureau to solicit and accept donations. We also covered this in previous articles: Last month April 2015 and more than 2 years ago in Jan 2013.
Kirk Allen questioned whether there would be a food safety inspection prior to serving food to the public – Mike Heltsley says no.

They must think we forget easily…
Anyway, the Edgar County Board, supposedly on advice of the Edgar County State’s Attorney, Mark Isaf, seems to think it is perfectly acceptable to knowingly allow an entity to violate the law on county property – because, you know, that’s how they’ve always done it.
My opinion is that it is not OK, and the county board does not have the authority to authorize violations of law or to knowingly allow them to happen. This board appears to be more than willing to let someone else take the heat.

I love paying higher taxes
Posted at 10:14h, 12 JuneThanks for shutting that down. All the tax payers would prefer to foot the bill for airport stuff instead of having it donated with fund raisers. If you guys were so concerned with with all that stuff, why not help them get the thing going instead of getting it stopped. You are increasing the tax burden on all of us.

Why not you may ask?
Because the Solicitation for Charity Act specifically exempts those organizations like “Music Boosters” or “Band Boosters”, etc., that go to benefit the schools they are associated with.
Otherwise, yes, I would object if they were held on public property and were not exempted by law.
