Clark County, IL. (ECWd) –
The Clark County Park District has a dirty little secret they have been trying to keep hidden from the voters…
All the talk has been about 14 lease lots for a private subdivision – and as credible inside tips have recently informed us, all while reportedly planning for a total of 42 lease lots in the long term plan, but trying to keep it quiet until after this election. That’s right, over 42 acres of prime PARK DISTRICT Lake-Front property is on the planning list for private subdivision lease lots.
No wonder they have been so secretive about the actual lease the proposed leaseholders will sign (they still won’t produce it)!
These Commissioners have reduced the District’s bank balances by over $400,000 in recent years even AFTER increasing taxes by close to $300,000 – that equates to approximately $700,000 the District no longer has and is trying to make ends meet by leasing lots for 50 years with an additional 50 year option for a total of 100 years (covenants article here).
It is quite obvious they have no idea what a budget is (read the “Let’s just add income to show a break even budget” article here). Maybe if the Commissioners would quit stealing from the Park (read it here) they wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place.
At this rate, the public will not be able to use this public property until sometime after the year 2115 – ONE HUNDRED YEARS from now!
Once finalized, they will have taken use of this area from your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren – this is tax-payer supported property – and the District will still demand all of your tax money for the next 100 years when they and you cannot use that portion of the park. That is FOUR generations.
Is this the legacy you want to leave for your families?

Posted at 06:06h, 24 MarchQuestions remains though, obviously…how are you going toO implement YOUR solution to this COMPLEX problem EFFECTIVELY? Specifically how exactly are you planning on effectively changing the problems at this campground in the short term AND the long term AND keep BOTH the taxpayers AND the campers AND We the People, the average citizen ALL satisfied in YOURS or OUR proposition? How quickly can a plan be implemented? When can it be SUCCESSFUL, why not?

Posted at 09:32h, 22 MarchUsed to camp there several times a year til last year when they started charging for electricity. Camping fees are high enough then add outrageous electric rate on top of it.
