Shelby Co., Ill. (ECWd) –
Yesterday we filed a Petition and Motion to Intervene in the Boehm v. Shelby County case filed several weeks ago attempting to stall the opening and awarding of the sole bid for selling the county-owned farmland.
According to the court’s docket, the judge opened the bid in the presence of the Shelby County Sheriff, Shelbyville Police Chief (why he was present is a mystery), and Circuit Clerk was then ordered to distribute the bid to the attorneys of record and also prohibited them from further distributing the bidder’s information.
Our petition and motion to intervene is simply asking the court to unseal and release the bid, in its entirety, to the public – the public has a right to know, and its release will not have any effect on this case.
In the past, we had filed successful motions to intervene in White County, Coles County, and DuPage County cases, protecting the public’s right to know.
We hope to have this Motion presented and heard at this morning’s court status call.
