Dear District 95 Families and School Community,
We are writing to share an important update regarding the upcoming school year. To ensure our facilities are fully ready for learning, the first half day of school is being delayed until Friday, August 21.
During our final preparation and facility checks, we identified a few adjustments needed to ensure our geothermal HVAC systems are fully operational and ready to provide a comfortable learning environment for students and staff.
Additional time is needed to:
- Make sure every classroom and common area is prepared and ready for our students and staff when they return. We want to take the extra time now to ensure the buildings are operating as they should and providing a high-quality learning environment.
- Continue monitoring humidity levels and completing the necessary adjustments to help maintain the right conditions throughout the building. The additional time will allow our facilities team to thoroughly check each area, make needed adjustments, and have everything ready for the start of the school year.
What You Need to Know
- Open House will be on Thursday August 20
- New First Half Day of School: Friday, August 21
- New First Full Day of School: Monday, August 24
- District 95 students that attend Paris High School will start as planned on August 12.
We know that schedule changes create childcare and logistical challenges for families, and we did not make this decision lightly. However, welcoming our school community back into an environment that is thoroughly vetted, clean, and safe is a standard we will not compromise on.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support as we complete this critical work. We look forward to welcoming our students and staff back on August 21 for a healthy, successful school year.

So, a “few adjustments” is all they can come up with? When was this contract supposed to be completed…or did they forget to set an end date mentioning school was supposed to start? Why 24 hours notice?
We’re paying higher taxes so educators as well as administrators can be paid higher wages and have a better compensation package. They have a new High School, sold the old one because it couldn’t be fixed. They’ve messed up a grant funding, some of which has to be repaid and that wasn’t so long ago. Who went to jail?
After three months to get this right and we see another failure. They, the board and administrators flunked this test, and the inconvenience is one of their own making. I’m not signing their report card.
