Edgar Co. (ECWd) –
The Village of Kansas had its village meeting last week, and once again, the issue of Kansas water continued. One thing that jumped out at us was how, once again, the board took action that was not listed on the agenda. When I raised concerns about it, I was told it was part of paying bills, which was also not listed on the agenda.
A local citizen spoke during public comment regarding the positive E. coli test results she obtained and was told by the Mayor (president), that those tests are 100% invalid. The fact of the matter is that the tests are valid and were conducted by an independent lab that provided the results. The Mayor, correctly, pointed out as part of the discussion that there were no parts-per-million testing done, so it is unknown if the positive tests obtained are an actual problem. We must note that there was zero discussion on whether or not to have a more thorough test taken.
Of interest was the confirmation that there are homes in Kansas that have their toilet outlets hooked directly to the village drainage system. While confirming the raw sewage problem, it appears we finally have an admission that the Village does, in fact, have a drainage system.
The photo in this article was taken today during our Fire Training. For those who want to say the drinking water is just fine, we challenge them to bathe or drink the water from our hydrant tonight.
