Edgar County, Ill. (ECWd) –
Embarrass Township Road Commissioner, Heath Brown, was charged with Domestic Violence / Bodily Harm (a Class A Misdemeanor) on or about June 12, 2026.
He appeared in Edgar County Court in custody of the Sheriff on June 15, 2026, for a petition to detain, where probable cause was found for his arrest.
Brown was remanded to the custody of the Sheriff and was back in the courtroom on June 16, 2026, where the docket reads as follows:
- The State is requesting Deft be released on Pre-Trial Services with additional conditions.
- Arguments heard from both sides.
- PreTrial Services to follow Deft.
- Conditions of Pretrial Order reviewed with Deft.
- Additional conditions are as follows: No Contact with “VICTIM“
- Comply with the Alcohol monitoring devise and no alcohol consumption.
- Deft is admonished not to have any contact with the victim.
- Pre-trial Release Order on file.
- Deft pleads not guilty.
- Jury demand made.
- By agreement case continued to 07/23/2026 at 9:00am PTC. Deft Ordered To Appear. Deft remanded to custody of the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department pending release.
Next court date is set for Juny 23, 2026.

Absolutely nothing will happen. I went through this over a year ago when my husband of fifty-four years strangled me for the very last time. When he was arrested he actually admitted that was exactly what he was doing. Police took pictures of my neck and used them at the trial. He spent one night in jail. Then I had to be further stressed out by the “court system”. (Meanwhile the offender was stalking and intimidating.)
He plead not guilty at his arraignment. The state’s attorney (A very young seemingly inexperienced man in a polyester suit; he looked like he was going frog hunting.), prosecuted claiming this was a sure thing to get a conviction but never once contacted me to ask me what my side of the story was. (I wonder what his opening statement was!) Being subpoenaed to court, I had to testify for over three hours but was not allowed to hear or see any of the proceedings because I was a witness.
As a last minute gambit he changed his plea to guilty but he had reasons. What? After three hours of deliberation the jury came back with not guilty. I really do wonder what went on in that courtroom. I was assured that there would be transcripts. Nope. Turns out there are none. If you want to pay $1,800.00 they will type one up for you. But until then, they do not exist.
Nothing will happen to this alleged perpetrator. The court system is totally corrupt. Victim? You are on your own!
