Illinois (ECWd) –

Governor Pritzker and the Illinois State Board of Elections has been sued in the Middle District of Illinois alleging violations of the Voting Rights Act, by the way the current legislative districts in Illinois are drawn up.

Former State Representative Jeanne Ives filed this lawsuit.

From the Complaint:

  • The Illinois Voting Rights Act of 2011 (“Illinois Voting Rights Act”) mandates the creation of racial districts in violation of Plaintiff’s civil rights protected by the Fifteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and Section 2(a) of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (“Voting Rights Act”).
  • The Voting Rights Act forbids enforcing election procedures enacted with a racial intent or that results in a denial, or abridgment, of the right of any citizen of the United States to vote on account of race. 52 U.S.C. § 10101(a). The Illinois Voting Rights Act requires drawing district lines to preserve deliberate racial percentages, racial majorities, and the deliberate preservation of racial influence districts. This violates the Constitution and the Voting Rights Act.
  • By intentionally distorting district boundaries along racial lines to draw crossover districts, coalition districts, or influence districts, Illinois has and continues to violate the Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution and Section 2(a) of the Voting Rights Act. See U.S. CONST., amend. XV, § 1; 52 U.S.C. § 10101(a); see also Shaw v. Reno, 509 U.S. 630, 657 (1993) (“[r]acial gerrymandering, … may balkanize us into competing racial factions; it threatens to carry us further from the goal of a political system in which race no longer matters”).

The lawsuit seeks to declare the Illinois Voting Rights Act as violative of the Fifteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution, which would essentially cause the current map to be redrawn in compliance with the Fifteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution.

  1. Why don’t they sue the real problem here, Madigan? He’s the one that started all this years ago and no one stood up like this , Governor Pritzker inherited it and was committed to eliminating gerrymandering until all the congressional stuff started. And Ms. Ives is certainly a great crusader for her beliefs that I respect very much as a tough as nails woman in politics, couldn’t they have found a better suited person to be the lead in the lawsuit? As Rich Miller points out in his Capitol Fax blog, “By voting age population, her former 42nd House District is 5 percent Black, 10 percent Asian and 8 percent Hispanic. Her state Senate district is about the same, with a bit more Asian Americans. Her congressional district (6) is also 75 percent White. She resides in Wheaton, which is about 77 percent White. C’mon. They couldn’t find a better plaintiff?”

  2. Republicans in Illinois are discriminated against when legislative maps drawn by the organized crime majority democraps. Gerrymandering has given the democrats 14 of the 17 congressional seats Illinois holds. Only three seats for republicans is evil and unlawful. Stop the un-American discrimination of republican voters! The democrat’s racial gerrymandering is the racist silencing of white people and it must stop! The Illinois republicans need to put forth a proposed amendment which would stop gerrymandering, Illinois gov Pritzker’s republican discrimination against whites. Pritzker wants the black Chicago vote when he runs for president in 2028. Huge win for America and against discrimination. State legislators have no lawful authority to pick their voters!
“When people get used to preferential treatment, equal treatment seems like discrimination.” ~ Dr Thomas Sowell, A Conflict of Visions, 1983

    1. Do something about it. Walk for his opponent. Put up a sign or signs. Explain why.

Simple opposition is not enough. We all agree, Pritzker needs to go. DO SOMETHING other than POST.

  3. Thank you Jeanne! I think all blue states should be sued for this and I think JB has stepped over the line on a lot of things .

  4. For years the city that works and the county that works have a strangle hold on the State of Illinois!! Seems like Chicago & Crook County can circumvent elections where these two entities can control elections with 80 to 90% of down state counties voting red but the blue wins anyway!! Now the alleged Governor, who likes to use our taxes to give out free-bees to All Illegals!! WHY DOESENT OUR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT prosecute our governor as if I’m correct he is committing crimes????????
