Paris, Ill. (ECWd) –
From a City of Paris Press Release:
The City of Paris would like to announce that construction on the Safe Routes to School Improvements around Mayo Middle School, Wenz School and Memorial School are tentatively scheduled to begin April 21, 2025. The contractor completing the improvements will be McCarthy Improvements. Construction should last approximately 35 days.
Along with local funds, this project utilizes federal Safe Routes to School grant funds administered by IDOT, and is intended to enhance the health and safety of children by making walking and biking to school safer and more accessible. The project includes upgraded ADA compliant ramp installations near Memorial and Wenz schools. It also includes ADA compliant ramps, sidewalk replacement and new sidewalk construction around Mayo Middle School and its John P. Allen sports complex.
We are aware that these improvements are starting within the school year and will be a disruption, we apologize for the timing. However, please be patient and consider the quality improvements are children and schools are receiving.
