Paris, Ill. (ECWd) –
Edgar County Sheriff’s Deputy Toby Krabel resigned from the Sheriff’s department the day following his arrest in Vigo County Indiana for allegedly “Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person” with probable cause found on August 7, 2024, indicating that he “refused with immediate suspension” – we believe that to indicate he refused any breathalyzer or other tests to determine suspected intoxication, which resulted in the immediate suspension of his driving privileges.
On September 30, 2024, Krabel entered a guilty agreed plea to the Class C Misdemeanor Charge of “Reckless Driving drive at an unreasonably high or low speed so to endanger safety” with the Operating While Intoxicated charge being dismissed with prejudice.
Krabel was formerly the Chief of Police in Chrisman, Illinois prior to accepting a position with the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department.
Mugshot photo and other charging information can be found (here).

At least this convicted offender is no longer in law enforcement. His time as a police officer is justifiably over.
