Kansas, Ill. (ECWd) –
Pursuant to a Freedom of Information Act request, the Edgar County Housing Authority has provided us with all camera angles of the June 28, 2024, shooting at the Kansas Public Housing area.
In video 1, you can see most of what occurred from a wide view. The other videos are closer to the action and from different angles. The entire incident lasted around two or three three minutes.
It appears, from the videos and from speaking to other individuals, two individuals, Dejahrie D. Campbell and Xavier T. Harris, were in a verbal argument or disagreement, then they both went their separate ways. A few seconds later, Campbell approached Harris while pointing a firearm at him, then retreated. Then Harris apparently retrieved a firearm from his Jeep and began firing at Campbell. Campbell was apparently shot in the leg, and Harris reportedly retreated into a home and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Campbell was taken to the hospital, and appeared in Edgar County Court on July 1, 2024, for a probable cause hearing.
According to Judici.com, Campbell is being charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and obstruction of justice/destruction of evidence (both Class 4 Felonies), and Aggravated assault/use of a deadly weapon (Class A Misdemeanor).
Campbell was denied pre-trial release and is currently being held in the Edgar County Jail.

Kansas IL? Looks more like Kansas City!
