District 95 Ordered to Release Federal Grand Jury Subpoena

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

Edgar Co. (ECWd) –

Our Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against School District 95 in Paris, Illinois was finally heard in court yesterday.  The suit was filed after the school provided a heavily redacted copy which we believed violated the case law for such a document. A copy of the redacted record can be downloaded at this link.

Judge Sullivan did an in-camera review of an unredacted copy of the subpoena issued to District 95 before hearing arguments on the case.  After brief arguments Judge Sullivan ordered the Federal Grand Jury subpoena to be released with limited redactions of names and a small portion of one paragraph.

He ordered District 95 to produce the subpoena within 7 days.

We published numerous articles regarding District 95 and the resulting grand jury subpoena.  Those articles can be viewed at this link.

We will send an additional FOIA to the District to determine how much money the District spent on legal bills to withhold public records.

Once we obtain the records we will publish it in a new article.

The outright corruption in the Public school system must be investigated and prosecuted if the law has been broken. The new American Mafia is the Public School System.

Yes, it is always good to have it on the record how much a school district spends avoiding accountability spent and breaking the law.

Paris being Paris, there will be some who will not want the facts revealed because doing so may lead to a negative perception of themselves, others, the school district, associated businesses, or the city itself.

I’m a firm believer in the old saying, ” Sunlight (transparency) is the best disinfectant.” Get it all out in the open, let us process it, and let the chips fall where they may to ensure something like this never happens again.

Full transparency is always best, and in this case it’s what’s best for the school district and the community at large.
