Coles County – Summary Judgement Motion Filed On County Board Hiring Of Private Appraiser To Perform Commercial Assessments

Coles Co. (ECWd) –

Coles County has been facing a lawsuit for the county board’s hiring of a private appraiser to perform commercial property tax assessments in the county.  There is no provision in the law for a county board to hire such a person which is the basis for the lawsuit.

While numerous Coles County Board members have refused to allow a presentation of the facts during a meeting, the summary judgment motion filed this week does a great job laying out the undisputed facts on the matter with supporting transcripts as exhibits.

When the county responds to the motion, we will publish an updated article.  With any luck the matter will be heard before Christmas.
