Dolton, IL. (ECWd) –
Tiffany Henyard, Mayor of Dolton, IL. and Supervisor of Thornton Township, has apparently made it her mission to hide her abusive comingling of township and village funds, and her abusive use of the township credit card from public inquiry.
We have several lawsuits against Thornton Township and the Village of Dolton for their refusal to release public records, especially those public records related to her use of the public’s funds. We understand there are over 100 unanswered FOIAs from various residents of the township.
Her administration has chosen to hide them from us, however, we will eventually obtain them through a court order since it is doubtful Henyard will voluntarily release them.
This will end up costing the township and village thousands on attorney fees, when all they have to do is simply comply with the Freedom of Information Act.
We call on the Legislature to draft an amendment to the FOIA to make the public official who willfully fails to provide public records personally responsible for all legal costs – the taxpayers should not have to shoulder that burden when a rogue public official like Tiffany Henyard refuses to comply with the law.
