Thornton Twp., Ill. (ECWd) –

After months of inappropriate spending, including township taxpayers subsidizing the Village of Dolton and Tiffany Henyard’s “nonprofit” through the use of the township credit card by Supervisor Henyard, and her signing township checks to pay her alleged nonprofit and other invoices incurred by the village of Dolton, Henyard seeks to institute a new tax for mental health services.

Her spending was so out of control that the Village of Dolton Board of Trustees removed her from the village bank accounts.

The township’s current mental health services have been fraught with controversy in the past few months, including allegations by current and former employees of improper conflicts of interest with its director and a contracted entity.

This referendum move by Henyard will raise real estate taxes on every parcel in Thornton Township to pay for something that had been running just fine for decades prior to Henyard’s appointment as Township Supervisor.

The following Senator, County Board Commissioner, City Mayors, and Village Presidents have signed a letter urging Thornton Township residents to vote “NO” on the referendum.

• Napoleon B. Harris 111, State Senator, 15th Senate District
• Donna Miller, Cook County Board Commissioner, 6th District
• Richard A. Hofeld, Mayor, Village of Homewood
• Robert R. Kolosh, Mayor, Village of Thornton
• Patricia L. Eidam, Mayor, Village of Lansing
• Lawrence L. Jackson, Mayor, Village of Riverdale
• Vernard Alsberry Jr., President, Village of Hazel Crest
• Thaddeus M. Jones, Mayor, City of Calumet City
Roger A. Agpawa, Mayor, City of Markham
• Don A. De Graff, Mayor, Village of South Holland
• Christopher J. Clark, Mayor, City of Harvey
• Thomas A. Brown, President, Village of East Hazel Crest
• Ronald J. Gardiner, President, Village of Glenwood
