Army Corps of Engineers Refused To Respond To FOIA Request Regarding Lithia Springs and Findlay Marina Contracts

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

On November 15, 2022

Shelby Co. (ECWd) –

The Army Corp of Engineers has refused to respond to a Freedom of Information Act request even after multiple follow-up attempts were made with the Washington, D.C. office which claimed it was going to be responded to by the Chicago office.  After months of no response, we filed a Federal FOIA lawsuit in the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois, Urbana Division.

The request was made in order to confirm certain information provided to us was accurate, however, for unexplained reasons the Army Corp of Engineers has refused to even respond to our multiple requests for the most basic of records.

  • [1] A copy of all current contracts/agreements/leases issued for marinas to operate on Lake Shelbyville in Shelby County;
  • [2] A copy of all requests for bids published for the operations of marinas on Lake Shelbyville in Shelby County, Illinois; [and]
  • [3] A copy of all bids received pertaining to the operations of marinas on Lake Shelbyville in Shelby County, Illinois;

A copy of the filing can be downloaded at this link or viewed below.  We will update as the case moves through the court system.

    There’s probably only one way to interpret the non-response…..

    More proof the federal govt is arrogant, dictatorial, and little more than organized crime! They are not public servants.

    Another example of government out of control in Illinois. The penalty and cost of this suit should come from those government officials paycheck that are refusing to follow the law. .
