From a Paris Police Department release:
At approximately 12:47 p.m. on July 25, 2022, Paris Police, Paris Fire, Edgar County Sheriff’s Department, and Horizon Health Ambulance were dispatched to a 3-vehicle accident on Route 1.
A vehicle driven by Aulden Boyd of Marshall, Illinois was stopped at the intersection of Route 1 and Gibson Drive in a 2020 Ford Fusion when he pulled onto Route 1 to make a left-hand turn to go north. He failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled directly into the path of two Harley Davidson motorcycles.
The motorcycles and riders were identified as a 2001 Harley Davidson driven by Charla Messenger and a 2003 Harley Davidson driven by Steven Messenger.
The Messengers had been southbound when Boyd pulled into their path. The skid marks indicated they locked their brakes before striking the driver’s side of the Ford. They were both transported to Horizon Health.
Boyd was cited and arrested for “Failure to Yield” at a Stop Intersection. He was released on a Notice to Appear.
Our prayers are with the victims and their families.
