Joliet, IL. (ECWd) –
Joliet Township Supervisor Angel Contreras is facing a five-count grand jury felony indictment after having been arrested on Father’s Day and charged with aggravated DUI and operating while license revoked, with further investigations revealing had two previous DUI convictions and two previous convictions of driving on a revoked license.
The Herald-News reports his previous convictions of operating a vehicle while intoxicated were in Iowa and Indiana in 2008 and 2016 respectively, and also driving on a revoked license in 2020 and 2021 in Illinois.
The five indictments are charged as:
- Aggravated DUI – Class 2 Felony
- Aggravated DUI – Class 2 Felony
- Aggravated DUI / No Driver’s License – Class 4 Felony
- Aggravated DUI / No Driver’s License – Class 4 Felony
- Driving on Revoked / Suspended License / DUI – Class 4 Felony

Posted at 12:43h, 08 JulyIf found guilty, he needs to do some prison time as both punishment and a deterrent. He has had his opportunity to learn and it’s apparently not worked. Sooner or later, he’s going to injure or kill someone else and/or himself. No doubt, his conduct has already negatively impacted his family and others close to him. DUI always needs to be treated harshly in conjunction with court-ordered alcohol and mental health counseling. It has always amazed me at the number of people who drive under the influence of alcohol – not to mention DUI Drugs.

Posted at 14:55h, 08 July100% agree with you. I don’t think we give enough punishment and rehab support at the first sign of alcohol abuse. Too many innocent victims die due to this growing problem in our country.
