Clerk and Calumet City Enter Into Standstill Agreement; No records Destruction Permitted –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On November 9, 2021

Calumet City, IL. (ECWd) –

At today’s Hearing for Plenary Protective Order against destruction of city records, and after hearing arguments from both parties, the Judge entered a “Standstill Agreement” prohibiting the Calumet City Clerk and her office from destroying public records, and also applied the same Order to the remainder of city staff and officers.

The Order stands until further order of the Court.

The next Hearing is scheduled for November 29, 2021, where the following will be heard:

  • Motion to Disqualify Defendant Clerk’s attorneys
  • Defendant’s Motion to Dismiss
  • Plaintiff’s Motion to Strike (the MTD) and Bar (defendant’s attorneys)

We wrote about this case earlier (HERE).

There is apparently another case where the Clerk has filed suit against the city and its mayor – we are working on obtaining copies of that case.
