Wesley Township Park, Less Than Inviting, More Like Intimidating –

Wesley Township, IL. (ECWd) –

Wesley Township Park has a new sign at its entrance within the last couple of weeks, which makes the park less than inviting, and even appears to be intimidating to people who may not know that Township Parks “shall be forever held for the free use of the public.”

So you roll up onto a public township park and see a “No Trespassing” sign…

Do you visit the park, or do you turn around and go home?

I have requested an answer from the Wesley Township Clerk and Supervisor, and will publish it once received.

Until then, we must ask:

• who will be considered a “trespasser” according to the sign?
• who authorized the sign to be placed there?
• was it authorized in a public meeting?

The “No Trespassing” sign appears to be from “Crime Stoppers of Will County” who appear to do a good job at informing the public of criminals and people of interest or who may otherwise be sought by law enforcement – we are wondering what interest they have in keeping people out of a township park that, according to Illinois law, “shall be forever held for the free use of the public.”
