Video of State Representative Candidate Lisa Ciampoli Casts Doubt on Statements to Madison County Public Corruption Task Force

EDWARDSVILLE – Video released by Madison County casts doubt on statements made by State Representative Candidate Lisa Ciampoli, along with Sheriff’s Det. Brian Koberna and Granite City Det. Jeffrey Donahey in affidavits filed for search warrants in connection with the Madison County Public Corruption Task Force.
The video was gathered as part of a contested freedom of information request in which the Illinois Attorney General’s Office ordered the video released.
Ciampoli gave testimony to a grand jury and swore in affidavits for search warrants alleging improper conduct by former Madison County IT Director Rob Dorman. Ciampoli and the detective’s statements were also used as a basis for search warrants against former County Administrator Doug Hulme and others.
The Madison County St. Clair Record reported on July 23rd that; An affidavit signed by Det. Jeffrey Donahey on Jan. 25, 2018, states that during Ciampoli’s encounter with Dorman, “Dorman tried to swipe the paperwork out of her hands. This information was corroborated by video surveillance footage from Madison County cameras.”
An affidavit signed by Det. Brian Koberna on Jan. 25, 2018 does not allege that Dorman swiped documents from Ciampoli. It states, “During her encounter with Dorman, Dorman tried to swipe the paperwork out of the clerk’s hands.”
The video obtained through the Freedom of Information Act does not show Dorman taking documents from a clerk. The video taken on Dec. 4th, 2017 as Lisa Ciampoli was filing for republican precinct committeeman against Rob Dorman’s father Bill Dorman, who passed away this week at age 81.
The video (here) does not show Dorman swiping documents from Ciampoli or the Clerk as described in the affidavits for search warrants.
“Ciampoli, who was a county board member at the time, threatened my job after my dad filed to run for precinct committeeman against her” Dorman said. “She told me on the phone I was not going to like what was going to happen and a month later my office was raided by the task force. I encourage the public to watch the video and read her statements and come to your own conclusions.”
Former Madison County Administrator Doug Hulme says he has watched the video and the sworn statements don’t add up.
“The detectives have two different stories and according to the video they are both appear untrue.” Hulme said. “A sworn affidavit for a search warrant is a very serious matter and unless Lisa Ciampoli can explain her statements then Republicans supporting Lisa Ciampoli like State Senator Jason Plummer need to immediately ask her to step away from running for state representative.”
