Bellmont Mayor locked Trustees out of Village Hall –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On March 27, 2020

Bellmont, IL. (ECWd) –

Bellmont, Illinois Mayor Gary Lance was appointed to fill the vacancy created by a resignation on February 18, 2020.

According to Village Trustees (and verified on a phone call I had with him), one of his first actions was to change the locks on Village Hall to lock the Village Trustees out of the building.

This action was never approved by the village board, but he did it anyway, lacking any authority to change them.

From all appearances, this Mayor wants things kept secret.

It makes us wonder if the four trustees who voted him into office are having “buyer’s remorse” right about now…

Isn’t there some way to remove from office someone who is “overstepping”? The 4 that voted for this person to fill the mayor position must not have known his personality; or maybe he talked a good talk at the time. .

A little bit of authority going to ones head as with the use of village equipment on personal property a d now the city hall lockout. Better stop it before it escalates.

Boss Hog…what is it now, one month and ten days in? Bellmont’s looking more and more like the center of Hazzard County. To say Boss Hog is clueless regarding his powers, rights and authority is an understatement. He needs to resign before his behavior gets himself arrested or the town sued because of his stupidity.
