Mattoon School Resource Officer pleads Guilty –

COLES CO. (ECWd) –

According to Court records, on February 3, 2020, Mattoon Police Officer and School Resource Officer Michael “Shane” West entered a voluntary guilty plea to Class A Misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol and was sentenced to:

  • 2 years court supervision
  • Fines and costs totaling $2,446.00
  • DUI School and not violate any criminal statute
  • Alcohol Treatment
  • 50 Hours community service to be completed within one year

On December 20, 2019 at approximately 11:48 p.m., at Old State Road and 610 East, in Coles County, Mattoon Police Officer / School Resource Officer Michael Shane West, 47, was arrested by the Coles County Sheriff’s Department for the allegations of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC in excess of 0.08.

On January 17, 2020, Michael “Shane” West plead Not Guilty to the charges of DUI.

On January 21, 2020, West appeared in court again, and waived formal reading of the charges.
