Coles Co. (ECWd) –
On January 17, 2020, Michael “Shane” West plead Not Guilty to the charges of DUI.
On January 21, 2020, West appeared in court again, and waived formal reading of the charges.
According to his Judici file, he did not request Petition to Rescind Statutory Summary Suspension (of driver’s license) Hearing at today’s court appearance.
As previously reported, West was temporarily suspended from the Mattoon Police Department after his DUI arrest became public, but is now off of suspension and working at the Mattoon Middle School as the School’s Resource Officer.
The Mattoon Police Chief told the Journal Gazette that West would continue to work until an internal investigation was completed pending recommendations by the Board.

Posted at 11:58h, 05 FebruaryA high percentage of those in law enforcement are alcoholics, suicidal, etc. He should be ordered to receive some type of help along with his other charges.
