Police Chief, 911 Board Chairman threatened reporter in text message –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On June 7, 2019

HUME, IL. (ECWd) –

Troy Eads, “Police Chief” of Hume, Illinois (pop. 380), Chairman of the Edgar County Emergency Telephone System Board, and former part-time deputy sheriff, is apparently displeased that we published a photo of him and his son (who is a Village Trustee in Hume) with what appeared to be a can of Bud Light and full shot glass in their hands outside and in the street in front of the Hume Community Building.

Eads sent me a threatening text stating that “You’re damned lucking I’m out of town right now” and also filled with other vulgar and insulting words.

One would think the Edgar County Board would not appreciate someone they appointed to the ETS Board acting in this unprofessional manner.

We doubt the Village President of Hume cares what his brother, the Police Chief says, but nevertheless, it makes the Village look bad when their Police Chief uses this type of language and poses for a photo with a minor apparently in possession of alcohol. Eads’ day job is working fulltime at FedEx in Indianapolis.

Oh, and he threatened to sue me for slander and libel. We are anxiously awaiting his “lawsuit.”

Read the offending text message (here).

Nobody should be above anything illegal, but be honest with yourself. Have you ever done anything that you shouldn’t have? Have you ever gotten a break? Are you a perfect Angel or are you human? We can’t say if anything was in the can or glass! Nobody really needs to know either. If you ever get stopped by a local officer bring this up and ask for a break. Be thankful for everything you have and don’t have. Life is way too short to assume anything!

When I was young we would sneak a drink here and there, and I am sure most of you did as well! Cops would take what you had and follow you home. A lot of respect was gained between the citizens and the law force! Now that we have social media everyone wants to ruin someone else’s life for petty things that they have already done themselves! I hope this watchdog has never bent the rules in his perfect life! You are messing with someone’s life over something that never hurt anyone but you. Who’s to say there was anything in the glass? Did you personally check? Go on with your life and leave this alone.

I totally understand if he was sharing a beer at a funeral/wake/whatever. But at least be professional enough to issue a statement instead of direct threats. It’s stuff like this that makes you wonder what happens during traffic stops when no one is looking.

Nice. Narcissists are everywhere. Prophetic times we live in. Just that no one expected it to be the ones “in charge” of the rest of us!

The Chief is the last person who should be calling anyone fat. The dude needs to hit the gym if he’s going to be wearing the blue. Oh. darn, I don’t see anyone in blue. I see nothing but a bunch of thugs. Chief, if you’re reading this, you’re a disgrace, you’re a punk, and your Peace Officer Cert. should be revoked. Also, you communicated an implied threat by computer. Tsk tsk. The States Attorney in EC should take this before a grand jury and have you indicted u jerk. The ECW writer is “ pleasantly plump”, you’re a slob Chief.

Hearsay? Photo evidence is not hearsay…
Beer in one hand, and a shot glass in the other.
Be honest with yourself, are the police above the law?

Kevin, I bet you are a Democrat! You want to punish someone for something you have done yourself!

Boy you’re tough. It’s pretty easy to sit around telling someone off from your keyboard. Why don’t you hit the gym, you jerk, punk and thug.

        Ha ha ha…
. Look at the insults to fly out of your keyboard, as you just did exactly what your crying about.
I think an admin needs to delete your comment as calling someone names such as a jerk is pretty inappropriate for someone who’s complaining themselves about someone else being a keyboard warrior.
You just served to prove that you do the exact same thing your crying about.
Simple solution don’t like what someone else posts don’t read it.
Kinda like seeing a pile of dog poo in Front of you and still choosing to step in it instead of going around it don’t yeah think…
Just my take on your comment, and I’m sure you will find someway to be offended about it too.
        Have a great day….

I don’t know the man, or the merits or truth of his claim of the photo being a “prop” photo / tribute.
However, said merit (or not) is a moot point to his texts. What kind of goof who holds the position of “police chief” transmits this type of vulgar text?

It sure does and it don’t even touch the level of corruption plaguing our state .
We live in a world where those in positions of authority abuse torture and murder with impunity. Even court rulings don’t stop them from being tyrants.
