BLOOMINGTON, IL. (ECWd) -
Apparently, this candidate for public office is still living the fantasy life of a child, thinking she can simply issue threats and no one is going to pay attention. We are paying attention and threats like this from political candiates need called out by all political sides of the aisle. Those who ignore it with silence are actually condoning it.
Jennifer Carrillo, the McLean County (IL) YWCA Mission Impact Director and Candidate for Bloomington City Council Ward 6, and a graduate of Illinois State University, issued the following statement in her FaceBook page (pic of it here) just above a picture of a firebombed car:
"A reminder to all local, state and federal officials: "When you aggressively f**k with people's lives, you should not be surprised when they decide to f**k with yours."
It is our duty to make it intolerably uncomfortable to do evil.
Do not let the folks who value politeness over justice to convince you otherwise."
BLNNEWS.com first reported on this and has more detailed information (here).
Does this fit within the mission statement and values of a YWCA?
We are anxiously awaiting Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner's endorsement of her and her actions.
