WILLIAMSFIELD, IL. (ECWd) –

During its December 2017 Board of Education meeting, the president of the this Board of Education of Williamsfield Community School District #210, disrupted a speaker during her public comment time and threatened her with removal from the meeting.

This threat was because she dared call a board member by his [first] name when addressing the school board.

She was rudely interrupted several times by the board president, who obviously forgot what the First Amendment is and what the Open Meetings Act is, to demand that she refrain from saying the name of a school board member – like board member names are to be so revered they dare not be spoken.

That silly line of thinking comes to an end tonight, as we are attending the January meeting and will address this issue head-on.

Williamsfield is a small community of around 600 residents and is located in Knox County, between Peoria and Galesburg, IL.

They guy is telling her she “must address the board as a whole.” Why is he telling her that? We address the mayor specifically all the time. If the mayor messes up and the council had nothing to do with it, then it makes no sense to “address the board as a whole.”
