feature, Illinois Supreme Court, LaSalle County, LaSalle County States Attorney

Former LaSalle County State's Attorney Brian Towne's SAFE unit deemed illegal by the Illinois Supreme Court

BY KIRK ALLEN & JOHN KRAFT

ON June 29, 2017

LaSalle Co. (ECWd) -

Smoked!

Yes, Brian Towne, former State's Attorney for LaSalle County has been handed his back-side by the Illinois Supreme Court and the taxpayers will surely be the ones to pay for his corrupt practices during his tenure in office.

The highest court in the state has affirmed the lower court's rulings against Towne's illegal police force (State's Attorney Felony Enforcement "SAFE" unit), we suspect the floodgates will open in the form of Federal 1983 cases against the County.  We suspect every case this illegal police force played a role in will now be the subject of civil rights actions, which are bound to hurt the county, and more importantly, the citizens of LaSalle County who will have to foot the bill.

Make no mistake, Brian Towne is a danger to the well-being of LaSalle County and the State of Illinois now that he has managed to get a full-time job as an Appellate Prosecutor in the very agency that he was in charge of as Board Chairman just days before his hiring.

Illinois is a mess and when people like Towne are allowed to slither into high paying state jobs living off the backs of taxpayers, it's no wonder things are as bad as they are.

If you have any doubts about the negative role Towne played while sucking up your tax dollars, a quick review of the articles found at this link will shed light on why this article is so harsh on Towne.

The Appellate Prosecutors office should terminate his employment as he is unfit, in our opinion, to prosecute others in light of his past actions and this Supreme Court's ruling.

Towne and his former officers are currently the subjects of a Class Action suit for their corrupt actions while in office and we suspect, just as we did in this Supreme Court case, he will be smoked in that case as well.
