CARLINVILLE, IL. (ECWd) –
During last night’s Carlinville City Council meeting, the Council, by unanimous vote, directed the Attorney to turn over public records in response to FOIA requests submitted by John Kraft and waive any fees associated with copies of the documents he requested.
One council member expressed concern the council was never notified of the requests for information and was never notified requests were never honored with document production, until after reading about it on the Edgar County Watchdogs’ website (here).
Direction from the council indicates the attorney must turn over the requested public records no later than Friday, April 7, 2017. It was also indicated that this only applied to Freedom Of Information Act requests already sent by Kraft to the city.
How this affects the pending lawsuit and three pending Attorney General Public Access Counselor inquiries is unclear at this time.
More on this situation as it unfolds.
