Lincoln Way School District 210 – Board member resigns – Conflict on the horizon?

By Kirk Allen & John Kraft

On January 15, 2016

Will Co. (ECWd) –

According to the Frankfort Patch, District 210 Board of Education member Christoper R. McFadden has resigned from the Board.

“Effective immediately, I resign my position as a board member. Thank you for your support of Lincoln-Way, and best wishes” Christopher R. Mcfadden

What makes this resignation of interest is the fact this particular Board member took office in April of 2015 and is also an Assistant U.S. Attorney.

Many factors may be in play with this, and although we may never know the real reason, we do believe the recent exposure of what many consider illegal expenditures is a factor.

As an attorney and especially an Asst. US Attorney he understands the legal ramifications the district is facing in light of the recent exposure of illegal spending.   It may well place him in a position of conflict and one I suspect he knows is not in his best interest as a federal prosecutor.

Considering the school is facing a lawsuit that outlines illegal expenditures prior to his becoming a board member we suspect he realizes the possibility that federal authorities may end up getting involved.  If that were to happen it would create a conflict of interest.

If those are the reasons he resigned then we applaud his actions for doing the right thing.

It is our understanding the lawsuit filed against the school is suppose to have a hearing next week.  We covered the filing of that case in this article.

We will update with additional information on what may become one of the biggest frauds on the taxpayers by a school district in Illinois state history…………next to maybe the College of DuPage and the Chicago Public School.

My hope for you and your children is that a school closing is the worst thing to happen to you. Because if it is you are very blessed. You’re going to look back on this and be so embarrassed about how much time and energy you’ve put into this.

You either do not have kids going to the district or you are just one of those parents that believe anyone should just do anything and everything will be alright. The only other possibility is that you are a relative of a board member or work at the school district. Last thing if you don’t like what is being said then don’t read it.

I suspect he was in doing the right thing however because of his occupation, when he sees possible criminal activity at the level I think we are seeing, he has a duty to act and that duty is in conflict with sitting on the board.

I for one and sorry to see him go. I attend board meetings on a regular basis and Mr. McFadden was one of the only member who asked tough questions. In my opinion he was trying to steer the ship in the right direction.

It was evident that the rest of the members of the Board especially Mr. Molloy were not too pleased with this and would undo the good that McFadden was trying to accomplish.

Mr. McFadden made the right choice for he and his family by resigning and I wish him well.

I’d be interested in the source of the PDF, it doesn’t look official.

The source was from a FOIA and Sawin responded by emailing it to me.

Sad to see the one to go is the only one questioning the BOE’s standard operating procedures. McFadden resigning solidifies my belief that there ARE illegal things happening there and he can’t be be associated with it.

Agree! The recent law suit has documented proof of District 210’s mismanagement and illegal use of funds, in addition to disregard of Illinois laws. Even though he resigned, McFadden is still a defendant in that suit, so hopefully he can now be honest and take sides WITH the community.
