DuPage Co. (ECWd) –
When the light of truth gets shined on public bodies violating the public trust, we see people flee office in hopes of escaping further scrutiny.
It appears more scrutiny is on the way for Tri-State Fire Protection District officials, as the Board of Trustees approved a forensic audit at their last meeting. If illegal activity is discovered by the forensic audit it will be up to the trustees or any concerned and willing citizen to file a criminal complaint so that charges can be determined.
It will be interesting to see how one of their disgraced trustees, who sold his own department several ambulances, fares after such an audit. Shortly after several articles on this character, he fled office.(Ambulance exposure, Residency Exposure, His resignation, His stop picking on me e-mail)
In addition to that trustee, the Chief had some interesting credit card purchases in Wisconsin, not to mention the laundry list of equipment he gave away to a department in Mexico that may become problematic when facing the scrutiny of a forensic audit.
We applaud the trustees for doing the right thing and ensuring they know where and how the public’s tax dollars were spent.
We will provide an update when the Audit is completed.
