COD- Time to Speak up People - Criminal Liability

BY KIRK ALLEN & JOHN KRAFT

ON April 2, 2015

DuPage Co. (ECWd) -

As a society we are only as healthy as our willingness to stand up and speak out when we know things are wrong.  Many have given up any hope of fixing anything in our government because of the overwhelming appearance that crime does pay.  Sadly, that appearance will only get stronger with silence.

We have found that not only can one person make a difference, more often than not, that one person who had the courage to speak out is the foundation for hundreds to follow.

"Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony
cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as
soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both."  (18 U.S.C. 4, Misprision of a Felony)

The attached file is from the US Department of Education Office of Inspector General.  It is an Investigation Services Overview.  I would encourage everyone to download it or review it below.  Pay particular attention to pages 10, 11, 12, 14, 19, 21, 22, and 24.

If you have information that you believe law enforcement might have an interest in regarding activities at COD then please contact the DuPage County State's Attorney's office at 630-407-8000
