College of DuPage, DuPage County, feature

College of DuPage on "Res Publica" - Breuder on "epitome of transparency"

BY JOHN KRAFT & KIRK ALLEN

ON March 28, 2015

College of DuPage (ECWd) -

When a public body has to employ a propaganda machine...I mean a public relations firm, you know they have problems.

First, I ask you to watch this 20 second video of Dr. Breuder saying that the College of DuPage is the "epitome of transparency":
.

Next ask yourself that if what Breuder said was true, why are we having to sue the college in DuPage Circuit Court for access to the very public records he professes are open to the public? Things like his very own W-2, and the financial numbers used in slides his senior management team presented at the last couple of meetings. You know, the stuff that really matters.

Now, we have the COD attorney "explaining" that Res Publica, the P.R. Firm, will be used to "release information to the public...BUT...information also that is "balanced"". Really? What did he mean by "balanced"? Did he mean they would just make stuff up to counteract the public records we get a hold of? Will they withhold records from a requester so the information will be "balanced"?

Time will tell...

.

.
Any bets that the final price of this propaganda effort will come close to or actually exceed the price the State of Illinois wanted to conduct the audit?

FYI the attorney on the video is not Florey but the other one that normally presides at these board meetings.

This 19 second video is so disingenuous it is lauhable. Words to describe Bob’s words that readily come to mind are calculating, insincere, misleading, polarizing, and delusional (in it’s psychiatric definition). Bob should really get some professional treatment.

This speaker has devised and stated a very specious argument. An “increase in inquiries” seems to be the reason for his “concern.” But, he does not state any specifics or examples.

All past, current and future matters of the college, known and unknown and in the right combination have the potential to become, in his words, “legal matters” or “litigation.” So, what should the college do with all this potential legal exposure, shut operations down?

The only current “legal matters” and “litigation” involving the college, other than run-of-the-mill torts and contract disputes that any $200 million a year institution experiences, has been caused by the board and Bob Breuder refusing to release documents pursuant to Illinois FOIA law. And what a tale those documents that have been released have told. That is what he really is afraid of.

And, if more “legal matters” and “litigation” of the college’s matters erupt, I sure wouldn’t want this person representing the college and the taxpayers in court.

Breuder has spent more redecorating his office (3 times) than Representative Schock. Is he going to release some “balanced” documents about that?
