DANVILLE, IL. (ECWd) –
In a letter written about a week before the Illinois Supreme Court unanimously overturned an Appellate Court ruling that stated State’s Attorney offices were not subject to FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act), Mr. Bill Donahue responded to a request for records by providing the records and stating that even though he provided them, he was part of the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office and they were not subject to FOIA.
I guess he won’t be sending that letter out anymore since the Supreme Court overturned that decision and remanded it back to the Circuit Court for action. Granted, I have the advantage of writing this after the Supreme Court decision, but it had to be written.
Our article on the decision is HERE.
