EDGAR CO. –
The Illinois Attorney General has been given leave to appeal the court decision that required the People of the State of Illinois to pay the legal expenses incurred by former Edgar County States Attorney Michael McFatridge in the lawsuit involving the wrongfull convictions of Randy Steidl and Herb Whitlock of the 1987 murders of a Paris, Illinois couple.
A couple days ago we posted the article where the 7th Federal Circuit Court ruled McFatridge DID NOT have qualified or absolute immunity from their actions while in office.
If Madigan wins this appeal, McFatridge (and possibly the People of Edgar County) will be on the hook for his defense expenses.
