RE: Theft of funds / Edgar County Health Department
On September 7th, 2011, the Paris Police Department was contacted by Officials of the Edgar County Health Department regarding the possible theft of Health Department funds by a previous employee.
The resulting investigation generated evidence that resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for theft, a class 1 felony. That employee has been identified as Chandra A. Smith, 39 years of age, from Paris, Illinois.
Smith surrendered herself to the Edgar County Sheriff on the warrant on Friday, October 14th. Smith posted 10% of the $30, 000 bond, and was released.
Smith has an initial appearance scheduled in Edgar County Court on November 3rd, 9:30 A. M.
