Oswego, Ill. (ECWd) –

We filed a Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) lawsuit against the village of Oswego for allegations of violations of FOIA when it denied requests for information related to the alleged road rage incident where an off-duty Bolingbrook police officer brandished a firearm.

Our previous article on the road rage incident is HERE.

We believe the “public duties” of the personal privacy exception demands release of these records: “The disclosure of information that bears on the public duties of public employees and officials shall not be considered an invasion of personal privacy” when a police officer brandishes a firearm during an alleged road rage incident even if he is off duty at the time.

A case management conference is set for February 6, 2026.
