Dolton, Ill. (ECWd) –
On August 1, 2025, the Cook County Court Ordered the Village of Dolton, Illinois, to pay our attorney fees in the amount of $13,020.40, to pay our filing fees of $466.54, and to pay civil penalties in the amount of $2500.00 for willful violations, in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit we previously settled, pending fee and penalty payments. This is case number 2024CH0001012, which is second time an award of fees and civil penalties were against the village.
In the Order, the court found our attorney fees reasonable, the filing fees and costs are routine, and again awarded civil penalties for Dolton’s willful, intentional, and in bad faith violation of the Freedom of Information Act.
We urge the village to recoup these costs and penalties against former Mayor Henyard’s bond, if she had one.
