Dolton, Ill. (ECWd) –
During the June 6, 2025, hearing on our Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) lawsuit against the Village of Dolton, disgraced former Mayor Tiffany Henyard was held in contempt of court for ignoring and noncompliance of two previous court orders.
Henyard appeared in person with her attorney, who indicated that if called to testify, Henyard would plead the fifth due to being under current federal investigations of her actions while she was the mayor.
He also indicated Henyard had no idea which paper we requested under FOIA and that she did not have possession of it.
Henyard will submit a sworn affidavit attesting to her search for the document and that she does not possess it. Until then, she is still fined $1000 per day until compliance with the previous court orders. This “may” be the first time the per-day fine provision of the FOIA statute has been enforced (5 ILCS 140/11(j)).
Which paper are we asking for?
The paper she held up during the January 2, 2024, village board meeting claiming it was proof the trustees canceled the credit card (that was a false statement to make herself look good). We requested the paper less than three days after the meeting because she said, during the meeting, that she would provide a copy to the trustees (she never did) and to the public (she never did).
It is hard to believe she “can’t remember” or “doesn’t know” which paper we asked for when she made such a spectacle with it during a public meeting and on video.
