Statement from the Jefferson County Sheriff:
“April 16, 2025, at 10:56:42 AM CDT Yesterday afternoon, 48-year-old Michelle L. McKinney of Nason, IL was arrested for the felony crimes of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Obstructing Justice. The arrest was a result of a Sheriff’s Office investigation initiated on April 2nd, 2025, when a tip was forwarded to the Detective Division that a stolen vehicle was being concealed at 352 N. 3rd Street in Nason, IL.
The subsequent investigation led to a search warrant for that residence, which was served yesterday as well. A black 2009 GMC pickup truck, reported stolen from Wayne County, IL, was recovered as a result, after learning it had been moved from that property to an alternate location in attempt to further conceal it. After her arrest, McKinney was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, processed, and released with a mandatory court date per the new bail system under the SAFE-T Act. McKinney is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
