Election Shenanigans In Pecatonica Township –

By John Kraft & Kirk Allen

On February 13, 2025

Pecatonica Township, Ill. (ECWd) –

The Pecatonica Township Clerk has allegedly taken it upon herself to remove candidates from the ballot for “apparent nonconforming” petitions, but only those apparent nonconforming petitions for the candidates opposing her friends/relatives, at least according to a township resolution passed this week.

Indeed, the resolution states the clerk’s own nominating papers are nonconforming, and should all the apparent nonconforming petitions for candidates be stricken from the ballot, it would leave only one lone township trustee candidate on the ballot, and a Winnebago County Circuit Court Judge will be in the unenviable position of appointing three township trustees, the township clerk, the township supervisor, and the township road commissioner to fill the vacancies left after the election results are certified.

We doubt this resolution will have any legal effect on the candidates, the ballot, or the election, but we will keep you informed of its outcome.

Read the resolution below.

HereI is some news for the County Clerk. Removing names unilaterally from the ballot is a felony.. There are statutory procedures to legally remove names from a ballots.
Where’s the States Attorney.? Small County with large problems. .
