Coles Co., Ill. (ECWd) –

Oakland resident Kyley Willison was one of the three family member trustees for the Oakland Fire Protection District and along with his father was charged with multiple felony crimes for alleged theft and official misconduct.  While the father/son duo were charged and face criminal prosecution, no charges were filed for Kyley’s wife, who was also a board member during the thefts and forgery of records at the fire department. Immediately following our initial request for records almost 2 years ago, all three resigned from the board of the Oakland FPD.  A history of events can be viewed in numerous publications found at this link.

On September 16, 2024, Kyley Willison entered a voluntary open Guilty Plea to Count 1, a Class 1 felony for theft between $100,000.00 – $500,000.00.  The remaining 10 felony charges will be dismissed at sentencing.

So here’s the first problem I see with this: “three family member trustees” I am sure there are many families who could be in charge of a public fund with no outside oversight, but when you get a bad apple and his would be oversight is from his own family? Yeah. Not good.
